If you missed out on pop culture’s latest news, there is a new Mortal Kombat movie coming out. Warner Bros. unveiled 11 kickass motion posters and an exciting movie trailer with over-the-top gory deaths — fans around the world are thrilled to see how the 2021 blood-spurting reboot will translate on the silver screen. The trailer has registered 116M views in the first week, becoming the biggest R-rated trailer of all-time.

 

Iconic characters, bloody fatalities and plenty of “Get over here!” will evoke nostalgia to long-time fans of the series. On an exclusive interview with gamesradar.com, Mortal Kombat Movie Director Simon McQuoid promises an "unapologetically brutal" film and more than a simple martial arts tournament flick. With a sprinkle of comedy, impressive props and possibly the best fight scenes that have ever been on film, Mortal Kombat follows the original story set within the long-running franchise’s universe. Fans will cast the final judgement — a positive feedback may deliver sequels in years to come.

Mileena, the mutant hybrid clone of Kitana and adopted daughter of the Outworld Emperor Shao Kahn , has been a personal favorite over the years. Always expanding her abilities, Mileena’s incredible speed and agility offers a vicious gameplay as one of the deadliest and important characters of Mortal Kombat's lore. Mileena makes a brief, but powerful appearance in the red band trailer with Australian actress Sisi Stringer playing the dual sai-wielding assassin.

Mortal Kombat arrives in theaters and on HBO Max Friday, April 16, 2021.
