I have done a lot of crazy outfit combinations in all these years of blogging but perhaps this one will top of off as being one of my favorites. With that epic Game of Thrones x Bud light commercial during this past Sunday’s Super Bowl, I was just in the mood of pulling a Game of Thrones inspired post. If you are a fan of the series, you know who are the White Walkers (or The Others) and the being with malevolent powers that rules over this crowd of pale-looking-folks. But who was the Night King? What is the background story before he was turned into a cranky white crawler?
From bits and pieces dropped in the novels, it appears the Night’s King lived in the Westerosi Age of Heroes, 8000 years before the current events and just after the Wall was completed. At this time, the Children of the Forest forged a pack with the First Men and the first Houses were founded in the continent we all know today. The Night King was also the 13th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and he was in fact, a Stark.
Legend has it, the Lord Commander ventured beyond the Wall and he met a beautiful woman "with skin as white as the moon and eyes like blue stars". Upon consummation of his love for the woman, the Crow lost his soul. The King and his ice bride took residence in the Nightfort where he ruled for 13 years, continuously planning ways to take over the world.
Because my imagination always takes me a little further than expected, I started to wonder - “Wouldn’t it be cool if the Night’s Queen had a common background with the Children of the Forest?” Yeah, I did it. My freshly-turned White Walker wears a fancy body suit which is a level above the brown rags. After all, she is a Queen.
With the closing of ROIAF, this post also brings the important question: where can we find good Game of Thrones role-play sims? At this point, I have no answer for you but please do share any good spots that you know of.
