Marguerite of Valois

After almost 3 years since I last visited a Baroque inspired sim, I found myself back exploring 17th and 18th centuries role-play sims of Second Life. It turned out to be the right inspiration for the chosen wardrobe I’m featuring below.
“The 17th century falls into the Early Modern period of Europe and in that continent (whose impact on the world was increasing) was characterized by the Baroque cultural movement, the Dutch Golden Age, the French Grand Siècle dominated by Louis XIV, and the Scientific Revolution. It was during this period also that European colonization of the Americas began in earnest, including the exploitation of the silver deposits, which resulted in bouts of inflation as wealth was drawn into Europe. During the 18th century, the Enlightenment culminated in the French and American revolutions. Philosophy and science increased in prominence. Philosophers dreamed of a brighter age. This dream turned into a reality with the French Revolution of 1789. The Ottoman Empire experienced an unprecedented period of peace and economic expansion, taking part in no European wars from 1740 to 1768. Great Britain became a major power worldwide with the defeat of France in North America in the 1760s and the conquest of large parts of India. However, Britain lost many of its North American colonies after the American Revolution, which resulted in the formation of the newly independent United States. The "short" 18th century defined as 1715–1789, is the period of time between the death of Louis XIV of France and the start of the French Revolution.”

If you feel that this type of role-play entices you, you should absolutely give it a try. For my surprise, I have found beautifully detailed role-play sims that portrays a rich culture and heritage. Palace of Versailles, Taj Mahal, and the St. Peter's Basilica are just a few of the architectural wonders that were built during this timeline.
Just like for the Viking themed role-play sims that I’ve posted last week, I also compiled a small list of regions that offer a more Neoclassical, Baroque, and Rococo culture role-play themes. (If your sim is not listed below, shoot me a message inworld. I will be happy to add it here!)

"Margaret of Valois (French: Marguerite, 14 May 1553 – 27 March 1615), commonly Margot, was a French princess of the Valois dynasty who became queen consort of Navarre and later also of France. She has been a victim of a historiographic tradition that has demolished the importance of her actions in the political sphere of the era, to reinforce the dynastic transition from the Valois to the Bourbon, giving credit to libel and slander circulated on her account and created and handed down through the centuries the myth of a beautiful woman, cultured, nymphomaniac and incestuous. This legend has crystallized around the famous nickname Queen Margot (La Reine Margot), invented by Alexandre Dumas, père."
