Happy Birthday Second Life

Second Life just made, this past Monday, 11 years that is alive and offering us all this wonderful world we love to play in. If you wish to attend Second Life official festivities, they will be running from June 29th to July 6th with a ton of events, live music performances and more. Below are the links to the party regions:
Few weeks ago, i wrote about the new avatars and what was coming in a very near future and it seems these changes will be in affect sooner then we all thought (see the post HERE). The first steps were made when LL introduced the new mesh standard avatars but now get ready for the big picture.
Linden Lab has been working in a new version of Second Life and this means a brand new world that many users calls: SL 2.0. As this new world comes active, means that the system we are playing in now, will have to be transferred to this new version including the items in our inventories but it seems that you will be able to play in both worlds. While this whole thing is still being developed some answers already has been answered in the SL Official Forums.

1. Most of the assets like meshes, textures, scripts, etc will be transferred to this new version of Second Life, but several areas will have radical improvements and thus not possible to be fully backwards compatible.
Mesh is ok (but with better lighting and other tech you may want to make tweaks)
Animations will change (major improvements as we don't currently do it the way it should be done)
Sculpts (TBD, but not as is, but maybe converted to Mesh?)
Scripts (major improvement, so will change)
Textures ok
Prims (TBD, but probably not as is)
Avatars will be radically improved as well so a lot TBD

2. ToS will remain the same.

3. Currency will be available in both worlds.

4. Friends, Groups and Identity will remain the same.

Even it sound scary for most of us and specially for SL designers i believe this change will come for the best and make this game even more complex then it is. I personally can't wait to see what is coming out of this. These changes will make this world even more realistic and definitely will be much more enjoyable (Specially for all Fantasy Roleplayers!).

While we wait for more information to come out, let us embrace the wonderful things Second Life has to offer. Runaway has released a few hairs and i had to start by showing my favorite one: Lilly. Simply gorgeous!
